The reality is that the way we live with our dogs has evolved and changed more in the past 20 years than it did the previous 200. This is putting more and more pressure on our dogs and us as caregivers and the fact is that that traditional information and methods of living with our dogs is not only failing to set people up to succeed but is compounding issues deeper and deeper into society.
The number of dogs that are suffering with stress, fear, anxiety and frustration is on the rise but the longer people continue to try to address these issues with outdated practices, the more dogs will suffer.
This is why we have created Canine C.A.R.E.givers
Our goal is to provide a platform that people know they can turn to for reliable advice that has a deep understanding of dog behaviour and how we can support it in the modern world.
To CARE is to not look at our dogs behaviour as something that we must correct, it is to look at how we can be the best versions of ourselves as we support our dogs through the realities of life in a modern world.
We are asking you to COMMUNICATE with your dogs. This means more than obedience and commands. When we communicate with our dogs we must do so with clarity, kindness, patience and empathy.
We are asking you to ADVOCATE for your dog, for yourself as a caregiver and for the wider community of others and their dogs. This means taking responsibility for where we take our dogs, who and what they are exposed to and for how long and not putting the blame and responsibility back on them.
We are asking you to RELATE to your dogs. Putting ourselves in our dogs shoes and relating to how they might feel in this human world. A world in which the way we treat our dogs and involve them in our lives has changed more in the past 20 years than it did the previous 200.
We are asking you to Enrich your dogs lives and really understand what enrichment is. If we learn what the enrichment needs of our dogs are and how to meet them we will begin to meet their fundamental needs. We will see a decline in unwanted behaviours and resolve them with understanding and care.
We have years of experience helping real caregivers just like you in real life situations with exactly this. This community is here for us to care for you, for you to care for each other, all in support of caring for our best friends, our dogs.
