This Course is Perfect For

  • Fear Reactive Dogs

That reactive dog may not be all that confident. If they learn to bark and lunge as a survival mechanism and they believe it's working then your dog may be 'fear reactive'

  • Frustration Reactivity

Too much physical restraint on our dogs and not helping them learn to take cues from you when they want to get to somewhere else can often lead to reactivity driven by frustration

  • Anxious & Overwhelmed

Our dogs might simply not know where the next trigger is coming from and find this extremely difficult to navigate and this is extra tricky to handle

Meet Your Teacher

Co-Founder of Canine Caregivers Dominique Hone

Dom has been working in the animal industry since 2006, working in multiple rescues both here in Australia and overseas. This is where she found her passion for understanding dogs and helping people understand the "why" the behaviour happens, where it comes from and how to help both sides of the lead work together as a team. She became a qualified behavioural trainer in 2015 with the Delta society, at the same time adopting her own dog from a pound who she soon discovered has struggles around humans. Experiencing what it is like for people with dogs that have struggles in our everyday world was a game changer. Archie has been her biggest teacher to date, and she is still learning. Understanding dogs and the behaviours they display as well as helping the caregivers change the narrative is Dom's goal. Dom has consulted with thousands of dog training clients, Dom has held workshops and talks for rescue shelters, dog daycare staff and pound staff as well as foster carers. Building a bridge of communication, empathy and understanding at both ends of the lead is how Canine Caregivers came about. The goal of creating unity between dogs and their Caregivers.
